There are a few problems with these patterns. There are a number of typos, to begin with. Then, none of the squares lay flat, and none of them are completely square at 4 straight edges at 90° angles. Additionally, the stitches in the directions do not always match up with the stitches in the pictures. In fact, enlarging the pictures shows that the author had the same problems I did, but the squares have been stretched or shoved together in places to make the pictures appear correct. I gave it 3 stars instead of 1, however, because it gave me some good ideas to work with, and a starting point for some beautiful squares once I could diagnose and fix the author's mistakes. I saw that the author is from the UK and moved to Japan, and has likely never used US terminology at length. I see the strong possibility that the projects were not properly converted to US terms from a pre-existing UK version. The reviews from the UK are quite different than the US reviews. Mostly, I see this lack of conversion in the "Tea Rose" where the directions call for sc, while the enlarged picture clearly shows dc stitches. It might be helpful for US users if the reviews were separated into US and UK editions of the book. The patterns are lovely but I found the format to be a problem particularly as there's several errors in the patterns. Particularly the marigold pattern. I also think there's also an error in the instructions for the triple crochet cluster. I'm currently working on the rose. I would consider myself to be at an intermediate skill level but am finding the instructions for the rose difficult to follow.
